Why Is It Important To Study The Word of God?
In a world where we can find Bible verses on Facebook, listen to podcasts, or watch services online, it is more important than ever to sit down and actually study the Word of God. We must find for ourselves what the Word says, and the benefits that come from studying the Bible.
This post will focus on four benefits (and there are many more) that come from a study of God’s Word. I urge you to take the time to look up the scripture, make notes, and add your own related scriptures.
So, why is it important to study the Word of God?
1. It allows us to know Jesus
Luke 2:11 Isaiah 43:11 1 John 4:14
John 5:38-40 1 John 5:20 Romans 8:34
Romans 8:1 Romans 6:23
2. It transforms us
Psalm 19:7-11 Psalm 119:165 Hebrews 4:12
Romans 12:2 II Corinthians 5:17 Galatians 5:22
3. It gives us hope
Romans 15:4 Romans 15:13 1 Peter 1:3
Psalm 31:24
4. It prepares us to use the Word – ministry, service, and good works
James 2:18 James 2:26 Matthew 5:47
Matthew 6:24 1 Timothy 6:18 James 3:13
James 1:25
(I recommend a thorough study of the Book of James)
As stated, this is just a few of the benefits you will find as you study the Bible. God loves us and will provide for us if we take the time to seek Him – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” Matthew 6:34.
This study is taken from a sermon preached by Brother Jerry Nance on December 30, 2018.
